Selective medium for isolation of Staphylococcus spp., especially coagulase-positive S. aureus

formulation:

• Casein Digest Peptone -5 g/l

• Peptic Digest of Animal Tissue – 5 g/l

• D‑Mannitol – 10 g/l

• Beef Extract – 1 g/l

• Phenol Red indicator – 0.025 g/l

• NaCl – 75 g/l

• Agar -15 g/l

Usage: High salt inhibits non-staphylococci; mannitol fermentation differentiates S. aureus by yellow halo. Suitable for food, clinical, environmental sampling.
